Voicing Feelings A Poem

There are feelings that emerge
They peek their head
of a bird's nest
They are like those
Shooting stems
Of a plant's new growth
In Spring.
Should I allow them
grow? And take flight?
the nest
Continue on til they
Are full fledged
In their development?

God! You don't know
How I want that feeling
take hold!
That these feelings
Do not have hide
Inside me
Like a scared .
But be like a peacock
That struts its stuff!
Like a flower that buds
And opens up!
Nature has it's course.
Can my feelings also
Have their day
In the light?

My feelings will they
Be allowed be voiced?
Or will they by stymied
Because they will not
Be met with approval?

Should I care what others think?
I have but life live
My feelings being a part of it.
That is a question
I ask myself
Can I be brave
And open
Or closed
And waiting
And waiting
For the right moment
If it ever comes.
I had best then
Not hold my breath.

Fascination With The Brady Men A Poem

I mentioned my infatuation
With the Brady men
Of the Brady bunch
Well more precisely
Greg and the father.

Yes, I have over the years
Been overcome with some
Kind of lust
For guys with dark curly hair
And blue eyes.
From that sexy neurologist
I dated in 1990 to another
Guy I dated in 1999
Who was a psychologist.
More recently there was
A guy I saw on and off
Who had the curly hair
But not as dark.

So this guy I chatted with
He had light colored hair
That was curly
I told him about my
Brady fascination.
He thought it kind
Of charming
In a girlish way.

So today I was listening
To Simon and Garfunkle
And Art's hair caught
My notice.
Ah there it was again
That curliness
That I hold with
Such a fascination.

What can I say?
Somethings last a lifetime?
Just so happens
My attraction for guys
Is not only based on hair.
Thank goodness.
For that would be just weird.

Like A Bridge Over Troubled Water A Poem

Like A Bridge Over Troubled Water Written in 20

Like a bridge over troubled water
The words of that song
They hit you
Where the sun
Don't shine
But your eyes
Might feel like
You have been
Overcome by the sun
When they tear up
Perhaps some even
Escape and on
Your cheeks
They trickle down.

Comfort when you
Need it most
An unconditional host
To welcome you
In your darkest hour
Seemingly with a lantern
Or a never ending
Oil lamp.
Would that this
Were always an option
For the strongest
And weakest
The superlative's strength
Not a factor in times
Of strife.

My Kind of Poem written in 2015

She loves her poems
To be short and sweet
Something easy to remember
Not full of trite
Nor full of hype
But full of charm and wit.

Perhaps it is from her adoration
Of her favorite poem of all time
Hold Fast To Dreams
By Langston Hughes.

Two stanzas
That speak volumes
In their imagery
Easy for recollection
For us who are not magicians
With our memory.
For pulling lines out of my hat
Of a mind
That behaves more oft like a sieve,
Is a failing task.

Understanding Emotion. A Poem

I need to understand divorce.

Not as in marriage.

But in emotions.

Men can do it so easily.

They can separate,

Sex from Love.

I have a very hard time

Doing this myself.

I need to realize

Most men are just

Selfish assholes.

I see the best in them

Dr. Jekyll and Mr. Hyde

Was there ever a better analogy

For what happens when a man

Gets what he wants?

The pretense is gone.

The divorce final

Not that there was any commitment

To begin with.

Now they don't even need to pretend.

Subject- object emotion verb.

Me him love sex divorce.

Time Skidaddling A Poem

I wish I could do
What I planned to
But I am ever at the mercy
Of time constraints.
And to be honest
I do procrastinate.

I get involved in other things
Time runs along
Skidaddling
I wish I had the same pace
With my tasks
I would be finished!
And there would be
No necessity to write
A poem so foolish!

A Living Doll A Poem

A Living Doll Written in 2015

She was a living doll
At least that is what he thought
He wanted to just hold her
Not too tight for fear
He would break her.

But she was far from porcelain.
She was made of skin and bones.
She was fair like alabaster
But she could tan if she wanted.

She was a real live woman.
With a heart and feelings.
He knew this.
It was why he thought her a doll
In the first place.
For his definition of doll was different.

He wanted to play with her
But keep her heart in tact.
Not injure it.
He wanted to preserve her very innocence.
Her goodness and light
He appreciated this like none other.

The step he had to take
The decision he had to make.
Was not an easy one for him.
He knew she was willing.
He knew she had needs.
But he knew if he made a move
He would want love to ensue.
For that is what this doll
Who was a real live woman
Evoked in him.

Doubts Snuffed A Poem

Doubts Snuffed Written in 2015

Like any doubt that lingers about
It needs to be talked down.
Or snuffed out
Like a candle that is no longer needed
It is not there to light your way.
It is just something that you
Have found comforting.

Darling daylight is upon you.
Extinguish the candle.
The blinds now opened
How the sun is shining!
It is a sign that darkness
Shall not overwhelm you.
It shall not win!

The light of day!
A simple phrase!
It is old and oft repeated.
For it is evident
In it's truthfulness.

Doubts snuffed
If there was dripping
It will dry!
And a notice will be taken
Of its size.
We can scoop it up and
Do with the leftover what we will
Whether back to a pile
Or in the garbage
It is hardly of its same use.

Thinking And Day And Night Dreaming A Poem

Thinking And Day And Night Dreaming Written in 2016

A lot goes through my mind.
Scenes and words etc.
I am sure yours is the same
Except for the characters
The words might be similar.
Swear words, words of self doubt
Words that we would not say aloud.

Ah those peace loving folks
With their meditation
And namaste
I envy them their peace.
I would so like to emulate.
Perhaps I will some day.

And at night
Before I go to sleep.
I think about something
I hope to have in a dream.
But it does not work that way
Our dreams we do not dictate.
Our minds in our dreams
Are seemingly not our own.
In fact at times they seem strange.

Is it any wonder
I prefer the dreams during the day?
I daydream so much.
You would need to break
My trance at times.

So what I think during the day
What I ponder
What I smile about
What makes me sad
What makes me plan
I know everyone else is doing
The same thing.
It is part of being human.

A Day's Product. A Poem

A day's product
Production takes place
It has a name
Whether nothing
Or something.
Whether large
Or small.
Nothing or something
Can be a phrase
To catch all.
Putting it in place
Whether finite
Or nonexistent.
Words barely
Doing the product justice.

Accomplishment. A Poem

I could at a mess
For days and weeks on end
And not do anything.
It is a sad state of events
That inertia and inaction bring.

step
task
get things rolling
Hoping for that
Law of physics
take hold of me.

Instead
Instead
Moments and actions
Separate again.

Fuck it!
I wish I could afford
A cleaning agency.
Order could be restored
But I would be
The gypped
A of a real sense
Of accomplishment.

She Was Lovely. A Poem

She was lovely wasn't she?
Until she wasn't.
You saw her at her best
And then
Something happened.

You can't really explain
Well you could if
You really wanted
Just blame her
For being
Less than perfect
And call it a day.

Thought Gives Way A Poem

Thought Gives Way Written in 2017

When I will go
Away, away
Far from you in thought
As is the case
In physical distance.
That day
Will it be a victory ?
Or just an escape?
Who will say?
It is all me
And my thinking
It perplexes
As much as giving.

Give way! Give way!
Oh the analogies
Perhaps I should just
Say a cliff gives way
Unto the sea
It plunges
The earth absorbed
Piece by piece
Till it is just
A frothy mix
Where once was earth
It is now stark
And has a new outlook .
Seemingly devastated
But it had to come
To this
Due to sheer force.
