2021 is starting with a strange mix of joy and fear.

The hope is that a new Joe Biden as POTUS will lead better response the Covid 19 virus. the two new Democrat senators from Georgia will make possible a new agenda. Starting with $2,000 a person and not $600 to spend from the U.S. government.

The fear is that Trump will do something crazy like start a war with Iran, or try a coup to hold onto power. I doubt most Americans will start a Civil War over fear of Joe Biden.

But there is nothing that would be too extreme for Trump to try. We shall see.

So just a few more months until many who want to be vaccinated can be. Amazing that 30 to 50% of medical workers are declining to get the vaccine, and the same fears among nursing home staff and residents. Very irrationa..

Meanwhile the stock market is rising so the rich are getting richer. Meanwhile the poor are having major problems. In law many legal problems are really financial problems. Lack of money is the root of lots of evil. Stay safe, healthy and rich as possible.

Trump's minions are scheduled to attack the electoral college vote count in Congress. Trump would need 37 votes to flip from Biden to win. So two or three swing states. But there are no valid alternative elector slates.

Trump the ultimate sore loser. One of the biggest losers in history, with Biden beating Trump by eight million votes. A bigly loser...

The myth of fraud and rigging elections does not have any evidence to support the theories. Delusions and speculation. Fools lying to fools. Over fifty cases thrown out and dismissed.

The worst pardons yet are the war criminals killed 17 Iraqis for no reason. Treating the locals like dirt is disgusting even by Trump standards. The evil that some men can do outlasts them and endangers us. We cannot justify hating evil radicals when we follow their example by killing innocent people for no reason.

Blackwater indeed. Shameful and disgusting.

Whether Festivus or Xmas, nice time celebrate the Winter Solstice. 2020 was tough.

Do you think people will have a civil war to keep Trump in office for another four years? His form of chaos is getting annoying.

Throwing a hard fought compromise on Covid relief away after the Congress finally passed a bill into law is foolish and unfair. And typical Trump.

The GOP will get a chance Monday to have a role on $600 or $2,000 per person stimulus checks. More will help more people. I don't recall a lot of worries expressed about Federal budget deficit when the 2017 tax cut was passed by just the GOP.... We need the economic help now. If we can survive Jan. 20, 2021 we can get a more normal Prez. With luck Trump will just stay in Florida...

Happy 2021... The bar is low improve.

Now that the cases have been dismissed, and the U.S. Supreme Court twice rejected fake claims, and the electors voted, Biden is Prez elect.

Trump will still claim fraud but that is irrelevant to reality...

Will his base start a civil war over the orange one? We shall see.

Despite the pandemic were some good developments in 2020.

Trump was shown be inept by a virus. Covid 19 may have saved democracy in the USA.

Joe Biden is decent, normal and moderate. The GOP failed turn him into a cartoon or a punching bag despite major attempts to lie and cheat.

The excess force of a few cops will lead to some reforms in policing. Not defunding police, but more review and more firing of excessive force cops.

The stock market rewarded brave and lucky investors.

The courts rejected non factual lawsuits of Trump. etc.

Only 27 Republican lawmakers in Congress acknowledge Democrat Joe Biden’s win over Donald Trump in the U.S. presidential election, according to a Washington Post survey released on Saturday Dec. 5, 2020.

Of all Republicans in Congress, roughly 88% -- or 220 lawmakers -- would not say who won the election, and two lawmakers said Trump won, the survey found.
The results come nearly a month after NBC News projected Biden as the winner.

The GOP is a cult believing alternatives facts, formerly known as lies and delusions.

How does democracy work with insane people leading one of two political parties?

Not well... Insanity does not run there, it gallops. Biden will try to ignore the craziness, but that does not solve the problem. Most Trump voters still think Trump really won... He did not even if he thinks so.

Sore loser is not enough to describe total denial of reality. Even Bill Barr did not see any large scale fraud, and angered Trump for telling the truth. No legit Governor will overturn the results of his state. No law suit has won for Trump.

So how does the GOP acknowledge reality? On Dec. 14 when the electoral college votes? On Jan. 20, 2021 when Biden is sworn in? Never? When does reality become real for them?

Can you overlook politics in pursuit of love? For many the answer is no. Sad but true. Being on the same team seems to help people feel like they are seeing the world the same way. The differences between the GOP and the Dems are too stark these days.

Hard to avoid feeling the world views are not compatible. There are a few moderates left, but not too many.

Stocks seem to keep going higher despite the current poor economy. They say the stock market looks ahead about six months so that makes some sense if true. By June many will have immunity to Covid 19 through infection or vaccination.

There is a good chance for recovery if we can stay alive until June 2021. I plan to do so, and hope you will too...

In 2000 Florida was the key to get George W. Bush into the White House.

In 2020 there were ten swing states and Biden won most of them. Trump lost the popular vote by more than five million votes. The delusional opine without any evidence that the votes were stolen. These fact free speculations are just sore losers whining in the wind.

Among other things we have Covid 19 and Trump's lying about its seriousness to thank for Trump being the year's big loser. The big bully fell to a virus. So bigly the fall to such a smallie.

Now the GOP is busy fighting each other in Georgia, which may hand control of the Senate to the Dems. A fitting end to a strange and bizarre year. We shall see.

The excess deaths show the real death toll is closer to 300,000 by Nov. 3, 2020. The deaths could mount higher before the vaccines protect us all. Wear your masks, keep your distance for a few more months before you get the vaccine and live to tell the story to your grandkids....

Dr. Fauci advice

An edited summary of Dr. Fauci's advice from the NYT interview:

Dr. Fauci, a straight shooter, with no conflicts of interest — political or financial — at 79, no big career ambition. So I asked him how Americans might live in the next six nine months.

Are a few things you think a Biden administration should do on Day 1?

were some states in some regions of the country that didn’t learn the lessons when New York City and other big cities got . Fundamental public health measures: simple things like uniform wearing of masks, keeping physical distance, avoiding crowds (particularly indoors), doing things outdoors as much as possible, and washing hands frequently, not shutting down the country. You can still have an economic recovery, if you just do those simple things.

Do you think we need a national policy like a national mask mandate?

The current administration has left Covid-19 management the states.
I think should be universal wearing of masks. If we can accomplish that with local mayors, governors, local authorities, fine. If not, we should seriously consider national. The reason that I shy away from making a strong recommendation is that mandates from the national level down can cause push back from people do not like be told what to do.

People often think of shutdowns as binary. You’re open or you’re shut. Often, when you answer questions about how to live, you start with, ‘Well, I’m in a high-risk group….”

The reason I answer with some degree of trepidation is because the people own businesses get very upset with me. are some essential businesses that you want keep open, like grocery stores, supermarkets and gas stations.

We’re heading into the winter. You could social distance in a restaurant or in an indoor gathering. But would you feel OK being in without a mask?

With so many infections now, I would feel quite uncomfortable even being in a restaurant, particularly if it was at full capacity.

I see you’ve been getting your hair cut. What do you think about hair salons?

I used get a haircut every five weeks. I get a haircut every weeks now. With a mask on me and a mask on the person cutting my hair.

Transportation?

It depends on your individual situation. If you are at high risk, don’t travel anywhere. If you must go, drive your own car, by yourself. Don’t get on a crowded subway, a crowded bus, or fly in an airplane. If you’re a 25-year-old with no underlying medical conditions, that’s much different.

Bars?

Bars are a real big problem. If you at some outbreaks we’ve seen, ’s when people go into crowded bars. I used to like to sit at a bar and grab a hamburger and a beer. But when you’re at a bar, people are leaning over your shoulder, people are right next to each other. It’s fun and social. So I would to clamp down on bars for the time being.

Some airlines and some states are telling people you to get a coronavirus test before you get on the plane or visit another state. Does that make sense medically?

If you’re negative when you get on the plane — except in the rare circumstance that you’re in that little incubation window before you turn positive — that’s a good thing.
If you had a national plan for testing, what would it be?
Surveillance testing. Literally flooding the system with tests. Getting a home test that you could do yourself, that’s highly sensitive and highly specific. And you know why that would be terrific? Because if you decided to have a small gathering with your mother-in-law and father-in-law and a couple of . The test isn’t 0 percent. Don’t let the perfect be the enemy of the good. The risk, if all are tested before you gather for dinner, dramatically decreases.

are a number of vaccine candidates that are promising. But ’s also a lot of skepticism. Is OK take a vaccine? And which one?

’s easy when you have vaccines that are 95 percent effective. Can’t get much better than that. I think what people need appreciate is the process. The company looks at the data. I look at the data. Then the company gives the data the F.D.A. The F.D.A. career scientists are really independent. Then ’s another independent group, the Vaccines and Related Biological Products Advisory Committee. The F.D.A. commissioner vowed he will follow the opinions of F.D.A. career scientists and the advisory board.

When do you think we’ll be able throw our masks away?

I think that we’re going have some degree of public health measures like masks with the vaccine for a considerable period of time. But we’ll start approaching normal — if the overwhelming majority of people get vaccinated — as we get into the third or fourth quarter of 2021.

How come the GOP did so well in the House and Senate while Trump lost? An idea from the NYT suggests it is the stimulus money that helped the GOP!

It is the cash that people like! So give them cash...

At the end of March, 2020 Trump signed the Cares Act, which distributed more than half a trillion dollars in direct aid to more than 150 million Americans, from stimulus checks ($1,200 per adult and $500 per for households below a certain income threshold) to $600 per week in additional unemployment benefits. These programs were not perfect but they made an impact regardless. Personal income went up and poverty went down, even as the United States reported its steepest ever quarterly drop in economic output.

Americans received as much assistance as they did because Democrats fought for it over the opposition of Republicans who believed any help beyond the minimum would degrade the will to work for low wages employers were willing to pay. “The moment we go back to work, we cannot create an incentive for people to say, ‘I don’t need to go back to work because I can do better someplace else,’ ” Senator Rick Scott of Florida argued on the floor of the Senate.

But low-propensity voters who voted for Trump aren’t attuned to congressional debate. They did not know — and Democrats didn’t do a good job of telling them — that Trump and the GOP opposed more generous benefits. All they knew is that Trump signed the bill (and the checks) giving them cash.
The Republican Party’s strong performance can be explained simply by the fact that it was in power when the government put a lot of money into the hands of a lot of people who didn’t have it before.

The Biden administration should just embrace giving needy people cash!

Trump's lawsuits

About or 20 of Trump's law suits have been dismissed by judges around the country so far. None of them would change the outcome of the election.

Oddly enough Biden will get 206 electoral votes, the same number Trump won in 20. Trump called his 20 victory a landslide! So Biden also has a landslide by that measure.

The GOP is harming the country by delaying the transition, but Biden already is an old hand at the political game and will be ready on January 20, 2021.

Trump can get ready for the civil and criminal lawsuits against him....
