Are we having fun yet?

Well, I've never blogged before, so here goes...What does one blog about? I'm not sure. However, if you have suggestions, let me know. I may just blog about a topic that you recommend.

I would like to start by saying that life is way too short to not enjoy it. We've all had our challenges and setbacks, and some more than others. However, as the old saying goes, "what doesn't kill you makes you stronger," is something that in my youth I thought was bogus. However, after some of my experiences I can say that is true.

You see, I have almost died a few times in my life. I can tell you that when you are writhing in pain on the hospital gurnie rolling into emergency surgery you are not thinking about the work on your desk, the bill you need to pay or the report you need to finish. You are thinking about "well, this could be it!" and as such, you think about all the things you wanted to do but didn't and the stupid things you said or did that you would like to take back. When you survive these types of events you are forever changed and can't help but feel like you've been given a second (or third) lease on life.

Now, I don't take myself seriously and don't get wrapped up in nonsense. Life is about doing the best you can and moving forward and having fun while doing it. Stop fussing over trival crap and focus on what is important. Don't let the morons pull you down to their level. Rise above the "Karen's" and the idiots running the organization you are a part of and find a way to laugh each and every day. Develop your priorities and goals and work towards them. Make sure you take time each day to enjoy yourself and the environment you are a part of. If you always wanted to get a dog, then go do it! If you want to drive a different car, then work to do just that. You don't get to take anything with you, so no matter if you are deeply religious, agnostic or a non-believer, we all must recognize that our individuals lives will end. Nothing materialistic matters and can go with you, but the memories and things you did to find peace and make life easier for others is what counts.

So, make sure you have fun each and every day. I personally enjoy all sorts of things as hobbies and interests and work to do just that. I am not perfect, don't have all the answers but really, really work to do the absolute best each and every day to make the most of my time on this, the third rock from the Sun. I hope you do too!
