Breaking up via text has little to do with internet dating sites. It has a lot to do with avoidance of unpleasant conversations. Before texting, there was email break-ups. Before that 'Dear John' letters. I wouldn't be surprised to find out that, once upon a time, people broke up with smoke signals or drum beats. Opportunity may knock only once, but temptation bangs on the door forever!

There’s no excuse except cowardice. I question the sincerity of their relationship. Today, it seems that too often, people are treated like disposable objects.

As an old person who communications mainly by text and email in my work and personal life, like the young’uns, I find nothing wrong with breaking up by text. Unless you are in a relationship that seldom contacted each each that way, I don’t see anything wrong with it. What’s so great about face to face telling someone you don’t like them anymore? I also find that many people are more open and honest using the written word than actually speaking in person. Internet dating has been around a long time now. No stigma or reluctance to admit you met someone on a dating site (except maybe this one 😱) anymore.
