Adventures in Grocery Shopping
Adventures in Grocery Shopping [size4]My county is currently o.n a "Stay at Home/ Work Smart" mandate from our mayor, so I'm o.n a 2-day work schedule until further notice. I'll still get a 40 hour paycheck, but only work sixteen hrs a week. Thank God I'm not self employed anymore. So today, like every other fucker in town, I thought I'd go to the store and get my groceries. I arrived 30 mins prior to opening and a line of about 75 hoarders wrapped around the building. Once the doors opened at 8am we slowly marched forward, picking carts o.n the way, until I was 2nd from the door t.o get in. That's when an employee walked past the line announcing they were out of toilet paper and would not be restocking any today. Greeeeat!!!! Once inside, there was hardly anyone there since everyone was so spread out. Even still, some people can manage to block an entire aisle by themselves. I made mental notes o.f who I was "taking out" if things went south. Old people who should know better, racing around cutting people off, young people wandering aimlessly and getting in my way, stupid shoppers that feel a need t.o handle every package of ground hamburger meat, as if they are buying by "feel" rather than by quantity or price. I was well armed with a couple of heavy cans of refried beans just in case I needed t.o "learn" somebody some manners. I found most everything I wanted. Alas, no Fresca. I did pick u.p a small pack of table napkins, just in case my , "El Douche" runs out of his toilet paper. He's not getting mine. |

I don’t get the TP thing. But whatever.

They still make Fresca? I thought the stopped producing it in the seventies.

I don't know why people haven't figured out that butt wipes work just as well - if not better - than TP. I sufficiently stocked up on both two weeks ago and am now guarding my supply against all comers! Opportunity may knock only once, but temptation bangs on the door forever!

I work at a grocery store, at the deli counter. Just imagine how all us grocery employees feel. We have to deal with every insane, crazy and freaked out customer that walks through the door. And let me tell you it has not been easy. I strolled through the the other night and half the store is empty. No toilet paper, paper towels, milk, eggs, bread, meats, hand sanitizer, ramen noodles and even cupcakes. You would think it is the zombie apocalypse the way people are acting and hoarding. Hopefully this madness will be over soon.

Just a thought McMc - you could always recycle the bog roll, let your son re-use yours if he runs out?!? Yes, my genius knows no bounds....and you're welcome! Mental out there, I don't think people are paying any attention to just how virulent Covid 19 is, or perhaps the information is so inconsistent and confused. Either way, even if the mortality rate turns out to be close to the common flu, the infection rate is conservatively estimated at 60 - 80%! Scary stuff.

Guess that’s why some states are now ordering gun stores closed! Don’t blame you man...

I'm armed and dangerous, with a big can of refried woopass!!!! When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro. The only thing we have to fear is fear itself.

Odd times we live in, at the moment. 540 mg of Sodium? Be careful.

That can screams “ Pretty sure I will need more TP after this”

Crazy stuff these days!

Sounds like your dealing with the same things we all are, you know what I don't get is these damn hoarders, they have been told not to do this but they just don't listen..I hope things get better soon, and your staying healthy and safe, and enjoy what's left of your Hump Day..

I wear full hockey gear with roller blades in lieu of ice skates. That way I can effortlessly cruise the store at 20 mph, in and out in a flash, minimizing my exposure to the hoarding hordes. A hockey stick comes in handy to reach those topmost items that the regular scavengers can't, and the elbow pads ensure that social distancing is easily maintained.

People are crazy.... I work at a grocery store that used to be open 24 hours until the shelter at home thing.... We now open at 8am. On Tuesday we opened an our early for the seniors and the customers with compromised immune systems. There were hundreds of people lined up to get into the building. The biggest complaint I heard was "Why are there so many people in here? I thought this was a special shop time." I asked one of the women who complained to me... "Do you see anyone shopping that doesn't meet the criteria?" She looked around, didn't say anything, then walked away. This whole thing has really shown me just how selfish people really are.

I’m digging into the unplumbed depths of my freezer in order to put off this particular experience as long as I can.

I don't think I could stand the idea of standing in line to get into a grocery store.... Next thing you know people will be driving through the wall of the grocery store to steal the TP. I solved the issue in my TP post.... As long as they don't shut off the town water supply anyways. Vive La Difference

We got that here too, 7AM at most of the stores two days a week, and heaven forbid that if I needed to be in that mess. when I go shopping , I know what I want, where it is and in just a few min I am through and out, I see the lady that has to pick up ever pack of ground chuck, What is it, they all the same not 50 cents difference , and they have to handle them all is it such a decision whether I want $5.5 worth or a $6.00 package..and I have seen this at he ground beef counter last 10 min sometimes... be safe stay away form the virus, by all means..
