The Tire Salesman When I had my oil changed a few weeks ago the Middle had told me.... "Mom, you REALLY need to get new tires." By the look in his eyes, I knew he was serious, so I called up the tire place and scheduled an appointment yesterday. That was quite the experience..... "Hello. Thank you for calling [tire place]...." Have you noticed those chain businesses all have a spiel now? They can't just say 'Hey, this is Joe Schmoe, how can I help you? They have to offer you great things and custom experiences that will keep you coming back? "Hi. I need to schedule an appointment to get new tires." "Ok. What size do you need? Are we doing all 4?" "Yes, I'm doing all 4. I need the size that fits my car." Ok, so, I was hair unprepared. I just assumed they'd be asking me for the make and model of my car and go from there. Tire Guy - totally laughing at the other end of the phone. "Oh, you're serious." "I schedule appointments with people who know what they're doing because I'm one of those people who don't." More laughter, Tire Guy is getting a kick out of this. "You called the right place then, we're tire experts. We'll see you Thursday night at 6pm." I did give him the make and model of my car and he did give me an estimate over the phone, so it wasn't a complete debacle. I also checked out the pricing online with installation to make sure he was on the up and up and not upselling me something I totally didn't need, he he was not. I have to say, I feel pretty confident in this place so far. We'll see what happens tonight when I actually get my new tires installed. Until then, Happy Thursday! |

My favorite is still the one about you hiding in the bathroom because your sweat pants made you look like a hobo. When I go the the tire store they never ask what size I need. They are all too eager to go out and see for themselves. I feel sorry for those guys because they are probably told to get as many sales as possible even when the customer is not there for tires but to just get a rotation. I got the long pitch oon how my stopping distance would increase in the rain. I still had a lot of tread left and I live in the desert.

I hope your tires are doing great now. I would have been the same as you over the phone. I have literally zero knowledge about autos, tires and anything involving vehicles. The only thing I would have told tire guy is to tread carefully with me. Yeah. I had to go there.

I love tire places (NOT) and buying tires (NOT) and installing tires (I like the sound of that thing they use to remove the lugs) and then driving away praying, that I notice some sort of magical DRIVE difference... in those fucking expensive, 'took a day outta my life' tires. Sometimes, I can actually FEEL the vibe and I sorta smile. I hope you get to feel yours and smile. ❗❗😎

Show some cleavage, you'll be glad you did!!! Get the actual installers name, if you are happy in a week? Go back and tip him!!!! It will make you both feel better! Trust me he is not making a whole lot of money!

Tires can be a nightmare. I invariably order the wrong thing and end up being corrected when I visit to get them fitted. Hope yours are okay McLade!

Ugh, I would probably go to Costco for new tires because the prices are set, no haggling.

The Shop I use is a Stand Alone Shop and Not part of a Chain !! They only carry low & mid-range priced tires and NONE of the BIG NAME BRANDS that you pay more for the Name on the tire than what the Tire is Worth If They do not have a particular tire in stock that they suggest for you ; they call a warehouse in Major City a hundred miles away and get them delivered before Noon the next day !!!

A friend went in for a tire estimate. Then her son took it in for an estimate and got a lesser price. same car. The see women coming.

I check out tire rack myself for they have all makes of tires. Available and send directly to my mechanic. Or my mechanic gets my tires from his place . I had my oil changed and he said it time for new tire but I knew that last fall. Figure old get thought the winter I did. Tires can be tricky like a pair of new shoes. They look good Till you but them on. If you liked your old tires get them If you think they where not great in the rain change traded pattern Figure out how many miles you drove on them did they last the mileage they said 40/50 thousand miles. I like to read what other people had to say about a tire I'm buying Many people differ in opinion but you can get a idea. Good luck just don't by cheap Chinese tires waisting your money. I use a small chain that uses car Jack's and does the job right there in the parking lot, nothing hidden from my view.
