Thoughts On September A Poem
Thoughts On September A Poem It is a new month. September has been good for The start of Autumn. It brings mind The new year I did like that I could start anew. With new clothes New hopes for success In various subjects. Seeing old friends again Making new ones. Seeing if we had changed But hoping we were Still on the page. There are more things be said about Autumn The crispness of the air. The colors that magically appear! I long for that sight But also despair that Once the leaves are gone The dreaded season of winter Will come along. September you are not you say you are. You have changed from Your original meaning of You have become the ninth month. A word that is arbitrary in effect A demarcation that became set Many moons ago. We know you now As of . Do you like where you lie In the calendar? Would you rather be In the summer? The point is moot As you are just a word With connotations galore. Thank you for the exercise That mind explored. this left me with a lump in my throat reminds me of the song 'september in the rain'. there's a haunting version done by annie lennox that "leaves" me in tears each time i hear it. in part it goes . .. The leaves of brown came tumbling down Remember, in september in the rain The sun went out just like a dying ember In september in the rain. To every word of love I heard, you whisper The raindrops seem to play a sweet refrain. https://youtu.be/bKrKHOUcNvY Independently Romantic Sounds Better Than Lonely
