Potatoes are native to South America. The only way they came from Europe was after being imported from Soith America and being bred into a different variety.

spuds are indeed a nutrient-rich food, its a shame that most people eat them as un-healthy greasy, salt-covered french fries instead of so many other healthier ways. and isnt it a sin that the fast-food industry includes them in every "meal" deal? sometimes it costs as much to just get a burger as it does to get a burger with greasy salty fries and sugary soda? no wonder we have a childhood obesity epidemic in our country. ever watch kids eat fast food? so many eat only half the burger but annihilate their fries and soda. as far as healthier options, my favorites? oven-fries or baked with some cheese. and give me yukon golds, they already taste "buttery" so you can put less high-fat stuff and salt on them and they still taste great! damn, now im hungry . . . I love potatoes. My grandfather had a nice little 3 acre farm and grew potatoes and corn along with a few other veggies. I used to love roaming through the corn fields. "Sweet, steamy, sensuous kisses light the bright fires of passionate lust within us." scott6250

I just love potatoes, and now you have made me really hungry.. I had Chicken Fried Steak with Country Gravy and Mashed Potatoes last night as we were at dinner with one of our friends who I drove to her doctors appointment. It was a fantastic meal. I hope you have a terrific Tuesday with lots of your favorite kind of potatoes today..

whered my comment go?! yes, spuds can be a very nutritious food, its a shame so many only take them as greasy, salty french fries, namely fast-foodies and especially kids. my favs? either oven-fries or baked with some cheese. and gimme yukon golds - they already taste buttery, so you dont need to load them with fatty stuff and salt to taste good. damn, now im hungry "well only get through this if we work together. if we dont, none of us will"
