Lets Talk About Sex. Facts and Myths

Since this site is billed as a 'sex and hook-up' site, thought it was time for a little sex education. So here are some common myths debunked.

Sex Burns Major Calories

Experts estimate thirty minutes of sex burns '85' '150' calories. Theoretically, you need burn about '3,500' calories lose a pound of body weight, so if you were using up '0' calories every time you had sex, you could lose one pound if you had sex '35' times. The problem is this: Most people are not having sex for thirty minutes straight. Instead, the average duration of sex is closer seven minutes. Guess that bursts a few bubbles.

Women Always Orgasm During Vaginal Sex

Nope. Not all women do. In fact, a study published in the Journal of Sex and Marital Therapy , found that only '18.4 %' of women said intercourse alone led them have an orgasm. '36.6 %' said clitoral stimulation was necessary for orgasm during sex. An additional '36 %' indicated that, while clitoral stimulation was not needed, their orgasms felt better if their clitoris was stimulated during intercourse. Toys can be great for this.

Sex Affects Sports Performance

This theory has been debated for many , with coaches often telling their athletes abstain from sex before big games or competitions. However, a '2016' study in the journal Frontiers in Physiology suggests sex has little impact on athletic performance—and could actually have a positive effect instead.

Having Sex Will Cause a Pregnant Woman Go Into Labour

This myth is so pervasive that even doctors will tell their full-term patients 'to' give it a try. But, not only does having sex near your due date not start labour, it may actually delay it, according to a study published in Obstetrics & Gynecology. Researchers found that women who were sexually active in the final weeks of their pregnancies carried their babies an average of '39.9' weeks, compared '39.3' weeks for women who weren’t having any sex.

You Can Tell If Someone Has An STD By Looking At Them

“A very common sex myth people believe is that you’ll be able '' tell if someone has an STD by looking at them,” says Robert Huizenga, MD, author of Sex, Lies & STDs. The truth is that many STDs don’t show outward symptoms or may not show up until much later. There’s no substitute for getting a medical screening and being totally honest about the results.

A Woman's Vagina Will Show How Many Partners She Has Had

Vaginas can temporarily stretch 'to' accommodate a large object—how else would women ever survive childbirth?—but they don’t stay stretched out. That means multiple partners, a partner with a large penis, or using large sex toys don’t affect the vagina. How tight or loose a vagina feels depends on the woman’s genetics and the fit between her and her partner.

Some experts believe skipping out on sex at least 48 hours before competition is best since anything closer to game day may relax males too much and decrease aggression and testosterone.

Some years ago, there was an article in Runner's World suggesting that having sex the night before a Marathon run would/might improve performance. One day I'll try ...

wait, wait, wait, now are you including foreplay in that 30 mins? Because that doesn't leave much time for the intercourse, and does oral sex burn calories?

now on the subject of vaginal orgasms I didn't see anything about G-spot stimulation. Get back to me on that...

You are right. Often too much emphasis and expectation is placed on the 'almighty O'. The destination instead of the journey overtakes actions.
Some of my most memorable experiences were intimate times of tenderness, passionate kissing and touching. Thank you for sharing your perspective and supporting my blog.

G-spot stimulation? Ah yes, I remember it well. Many don't believe it exists nor that squirting does not equal peeing. So, what exactly would you like to know

Thank goodness we all are unique and different. Imagine how boring it would be if everyone was the same. As always, I appreciate your support

Pretty sad that the 'act' itself, often only lasts that long. Kind of blows the image for a lot of people, don't ya think?

It just so happens I was well trained in G-spot stimulation and not only do I know the difference between squirting and peeing, I know to take it in the face like a man! I just like to know if there is any factoids or trivia I haven't heard.

Ah so you are a ‘trained professional’ of certain abilities. Thanks for clarifying. I will do more research and get back to you.

According to 'Does The G-Spot Really Exist' an article written by Jane Chalmers and published in The Conversation., the G-spot certainly exists in some women. However, not all women will find the stimulation of the G-spot pleasurable. Just because a woman is not aroused when the G-area is stimulated, this does not mean she is in any way sexually dysfunctional.

Yes this I all know interesting they only list 3 ways to orgasms, there are many more. For me vaginal penetration gives the strongest ones. Yes we are all different.

Those statistics were specific to whether women had orgasms from vaginal penetration. There’s no doubt we are different and can be stimulated in different ways. Thanks for sharing yours.
